Enrollment for the Fall 2007 term was 3539, with 906 of total made up of full-time students. About 75% of the total graduate enrollment is female.
Degrees and certificates awarded to the graduate class of 2007 totaled 1133, including 12 doctoral degrees.
Top five majors for graduate students currently include
Reading Education, Human Resource Development, Instructional Technology, Teaching and Early Childhood Education.
Research Funding Increases
Research grant funding increased approximately 10% from $ 17.3 Million to just over $1 9 million in FY 2007. The submissions also have increased by over 10%; a total of 302 proposals were submitted in fiscal year 2007 as compared to 281 in fiscal year 2006. Our sponsored research has benefited over nine thousand students, faculty, teachers and community members in the last six years.
Towson now offers two new Post-Bachelor Certificate programs: Interactive Media
Design, hosted by the Art Department, guides
students in web-design and other software design applications, and Integrated Arts Institute, offered by the Theatre Department, helps teachers integrate
all aspects of the arts into their teaching.
Occupational
Science reaches to China 
The Occupational Science doctoral program is involved in an interesting
exchange. Two experts in traditional Chinese medicine are now enrolled
in the doctoral program, hoping to start a new occupational science
program when they return to China. Meanwhile, they are teaching
about their own expertise in traditional medicine to students and
health workers here in Maryland. Here this radio ad that told about

Forensic
Chemistry Master's Program Now Enrolling for Fall
Towson's new Master of Science in Forensic Chemistry program is
now accepting students for fall semester. The program caters to
working professionals by offering courses in the evenings and on
weekends, and features a practical, hands-on and laboratory centered
curriculum.
Towson Reaches Across the Pacific
Towson's graduate programs reach across the Pacific Ocean
to Shanghai, China, where a Towson M.Ed. degree is now being offered
to a cohort of 31 students. The program
is a mixture of face-to-face and online courses taught by Towson
faculty.
Towson Occupational Therapy Department
and Faculty Receive Awards of Excellence
The Award of Excellence, the highest honor for outstanding contributions
to the field of occupational therapy in Maryland, was recently presented
to MaryBeth Merryman, an associate professor in the occupational
therapy and occupational science department. The department also
received the Maryland Occupational Therapy Association's Exemplary
Department Award.
Towson
Alumni Association announces new Fellowship Fund for Graduate Students
The Alumni Association has a new scholarship available
to graduate students. The purpose of the $1,000 award is to recognize,
encourage, and reward graduate students who demonstrate the highest
levels of academic and personal achievement and have the potential
to be an active alumni who will support Towson University and contribute
to his/her community. The fellowship will be awarded annually and
the application deadline is June 15.
