Mission Statement
The College of Graduate Studies and
Research at Towson University is dedicated
to providing resources for individuals
who wish to advance personal and professional
development and to assist them in becoming
life-long learners. The College
implements this mission by:
- facilitating the delivery of high
quality post-baccalaureate programs
of study that advance knowledge,
increase practical and service skills,
and develop responsible leadership
abilities; and
- maintaining an environment for
the University’s faculty and
students that allows for quality
research experiences that promote
the growth of the scholarly fields
and the benefit of the metropolitan
and wider communities.

Research Funding Increases

was awarded to Towson University
In fiscal year 2009, including
research, training, teacher professional
development, and community outreach
projects that are vital to the
quality of our education. Most
of these projects provide financial
help and research experience for
our graduate students.
- The University has received six American
Recover and Reinvestment Act of
2009 awards as of September
15, 2009--four from the National
Science Foundation and two from
the National Institutes of Health.
New Graduate Programs
Towson Goes Global
- A graduate level certificate of
the MS in Applied Information Technology
program will be offered at Shanghai
Zhang-Jiang High Tech Park in China beginning
summer 2009.
- The MS in Applied Information
Technology program will also be offered
in Panama starting
summer 2009 as well as through a
cooperative agreement with Qingdao
University in China beginning
with the Fall 2009 semester.
- All of these programs are a mixture
of online and face-to-face
courses taught by Towson
faculty.
