Dr.
Lijun Jin, Associate Professor in the Elementary Education
Department at Towson University has made numerous presentations
and published articles and book chapters in the areas of multicultural
education, teacher training and early literacy. Dr. Jin has taught
both undergraduate and graduate courses. Dr. Jin has also been
very active at the national level to promote quality teacher education
programs that prepare teachers for working with student populations
in multicultural settings. Because of her experience in program
design and evaluation, in 1997, she was nominated and selected
to serve on Board of Examiners for National Council for Accreditation
of Teacher Education, a prestigious accreditation agency recognized
by USDE. Since then, she has evaluated many teacher education
programs across the country. Dr. Jin successfully served as Project
Director for Fulbright-Hays Group Project Abroad - China in 2006.

Dr. Steven Phillips,
Associate Professor of History at Towson University, has traveled
extensively in China since 1985. He speaks Mandarin Chinese, the
standard dialect, and has participated in short-term study tours
of China. In January 2006, he led a short-term study tour of China
(Beijing, Shanghai, and Xi'an). Dr. Phillips earned his Ph.D. in
modern Chinese history from Georgetown University in 1998. At
Towson University, he has taught on modern China’s politics
and culture, and headed the Asian Studies program. Outside of
Towson, he gives frequent briefings for the US Department of State,
the US Navy, business executives, and civic groups on current
events in China. Dr. Phillips assisted Dr. Jin with Towson's 2006
Fulbright-Hays Group Project in China.
