Eligibility for Graduation

Students must complete all program prerequisites, as well as all required and elective master's degree courses with a minimum average of 3.00 in all graduate work taken at Towson University as well as 3.00 in all courses included in the program of study. Students must also pass the master's degree written examination if required by the particular program, and any additional oral and written examinations. All degree requirements including resolution of incomplete grades and the submission of the final copy of the thesis (which must be delivered to the Graduate School) must be completed by the last day of classes of the semester in which the student is applying for graduation. The application for graduation must be filed by the published date. (See dates above).

Apply for Graduation

To begin the process for graduation review, you will need to complete an application by the deadlines listed above. Please follow the application instructions carefully.

To apply for graduation review - online

  • Click on Self Service > Student Center
  • Using the drop-down menu in the Academics section, select Apply for Graduation.  Press the “Go” button to the right of the menu.
  • Select the desired degree or certificate.
  • Select the desired graduation term from the drop-down menu
  • Press the “Continue” button, and proofread the application information.  If the information is correct, press “Submit Application”.  
  • If your academic program listing is incorrect, or if you are listed as a non-degree-seeking student, contact the Graduate School IMMEDIATELY at 410-704-3092 or via email at lamos@towson.edu.

NOTE:

  • You MUST complete an application for "each" degree/program (including master's, certificates & doctorates)
  • If you have already applied for graduation & you are attempting to apply again for the same graduation term - a warning box will appear with the following message:
    • Applying to Graduate is not a Valid Option for the Selected Academic Program - A valid graduation application already exists for this academic program.
  • If you were " denied " from graduation, please apply for the next graduation date following the same steps listed above
  • To move your expected graduation term before being evaluated, you will need to complete a paper application

NOTE:

  • Name policy
    • only the current name listed in your record can be used on your diploma
    • your name in the system can ONLY be changed with documentation provided to the Grad School (marriage license, divorce decree, etc.)
  • Verify your name as listed at the top of the graduation application
  • If this is incorrect (incorrect spelling, missing middle name, etc.) please notify the graduate school
To apply for graduation review - in person

  • Paper applications are available at the following location:

      Monday-Thursday 8:00 am - 6:00 pm
      Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
