Frequently Asked Questions

Applying for Graduation Review

  • You may want to consider applying early for graduation review. You can apply as early as 5 months in advance on-line, click on this link for instructions.
  • You may also apply in person by coming to the Graduate School at 7800 York Road, Suite 216
  • Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

What do you mean by "graduation review"?

  • Applying for "graduation review" does not guarantee that you are eligible for graduation
  • When you apply for graduation, you are actually submitting a request to have your transcripts reviewed for completion of your program - by the Program Director and again by the Graduate School
  • A completed clearance form and transcripts reviewed by the program director are submitted to the Graduate School indicating your eligibility for graduation
  • If the clearance form is submitted to the Graduate School indicating that you are "ineligible" - you will be sent a letter detailing the requirements you will need to complete and advising you to apply for the next scheduled graduation
  • If the clearance form is submitted to the Graduate School indicating that your requirements are complete - the Graduate School will do an additional review of your records before posting your degree

I applied on-line for graduation, did it go through?

  • After you have completed the on-line application for graduation review, please print a copy of the confirmation page as verification that you have completed the process.  In the event that, because of a system problem, your application was not fully processed, your confirmation will be sufficient proof of application.

I applied for graduation review, is there anything else I need to do?

  • You may want to schedule an appointment with your advisor or program director to be sure that you have completed all of your requirements.
  • There are some things that may delay the process of clearing you for graduation, you may want to review your transcript for any of the following:
    • program - are you listed in the correct program?
    • incomplete (IP) or missing grades - contact your professor and/or program director
    • transfer credits - contact your program director

Can I still apply for graduation review, I missed the deadline?

  • Unfortunately if you have missed the deadline to apply for graduation you will now need to apply for the next scheduled graduation.
  • If needed, a verification letter can be prepared stating that you have completed all requirements for graduation and your degree will be awarded at the next scheduled graduation.
  • The same procedure is followed for the preparation of a verification letter. Your transcripts will be submitted to the program director along with a clearance form for review.

When will I receive my diploma?

  • Diplomas will be ready for mailing (or pick-up) 6-8 weeks after graduation.
