POLICY as of June 2009
Beginning in 1997, the Graduate Student Association
has allotted a portion of the GSA budget to be used specifically
for funding student research and professional development.
This includes but is not limited to presentation of a paper
or project at a conference, attendance at a conference, or
research and original works.
To apply for a GSA Award, first fill out the Award Application
form and its supplemental materials electronically. Please submit forms by emailing them to the GSA at gsa@towson.edu. This original award application must be submitted prior to attending the conference. This is
a rolling application process. Please allow
about 10 working days for each application to be reviewed and decided upon. We
take applications anytime, but please allow extra time for
processing when applying outside of the regular University
schedule.
Registered graduate students in good academic standing are
eligible to apply for and receive an award. Award money will
be given as reimbursement for supplies related to research
projects, costs associated with a presentation at or attendance
of a convention or conference.
Upon award receival, the following required documents will be sent to you as attachments in a notification
email. Please complete all required documents and return them to Yolanda Davenport in the 7800 York Rd Building,
Room 225D.
For Non-Travel Awards (ie. research) required documents include:
- GSA Award Checklist (Non-Travel Expenses Only)
- Miscellaneous Expense Voucher (include original receipts)
- W-9 Form
For Travel Awards (ie. attending or presenting at a conference) required documents include:

These are the Towson University Business Travel
policies and procedures enforced by the Working Fund unit
of Towson's Financial Services department, no exceptions will
be allowed.
For additional copies of required documents, please download them from the Towson
University forms directory. The Award Application form can be downloaded here.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Please Note: Reimbursement takes anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.
The sooner you turn in your receipts and COMPLETED paperwork,
the soon you can expect reimbursement! Furthermore, you will only be reimbursed according to the amount
awarded you by the GSA based on your proposed budget.
