Nadim Alkharouf and IT doctoral student Ahmed Ismail, co-authored a paper titled "RKN Lethal DB: A database for the identification of Root Knot Nematode (Meloidogyne spp.) candidate lethal genes.” The paper was published in the journal Bioinformation.

Nadim Alkharouf, co-authored a book chapter titled "Response of Soybean Roots to Soybean Cyst Nematode at the Molecular Level", which will appear in the 4th edition of "Plant Roots: The Hidden Half.”

Xinkai Li, Mu Zhao, Chao Lu and Jon A. Sjogren (Air Force) presented their paper, “Implementation of the Polynomial Method to Calculate e^At Using P-adic”, at ACM-RACS 2012, Oct. 24-26, 2012, San Antonio, TX.

On Nov. 9th, Jonathan Lazar was a panelist speaking about "Changing Demographics and Service to Changing Communities" at the Symposium on Diversity in Library and Information Science Education at the University of Maryland.

On Nov. 10, Jonathan Lazar gave a presentation titled "A Longitudinal Study of State Government Home Page Accessibility in Maryland" at the Maryland State Convention of the National Federation of the Blind, in Annapolis.

On Oct. 22, Heidi Feng and Jonathan Lazar, doctoral students Yao Ma and Lakshmidevi Sreeramareddy, and Loyola University Maryland Libby Kumin presented a paper titled "Investigating Authentication Methods Used by Individuals with Down Syndrome" at the ACM Conference on Assistive Technology (ASSETS) in Boulder, Colorado.

S. Chakraborty’s paper entitled, “A grounded Theoretical and Linguistic Analysis Approach for Non Functional Requirements Analysis” with Rozenkranz, C., Goethe University and Dehlinger, J., Towson University was accepted at the 33rd International Conference on Information Systems, Orlando, Florida, Dec 16th – 19th, 2012

S. Chakraborty’s paper entitled, “Getting to the Shalls: Facilitating Sense-Making in Requirements Engineering” with Rozenkranz, C., Goethe University and Dehlinger, J was presented at the Dagstuhl Workshop on Requirements Engineering, Dagstuhl, Germany 6

A paper by doctoral student Charlie Fowler and his advisor Robert Hammell, entitled "Building Baseline Preprocessed Common Data Sets for Multiple Follow-on Data Mining Algorithms," received the Distinguished PhD Student Paper Award at the 5th Annual Conference on Information Systems Applied Research (CONISAR 2012), 1-4 November 2012, New Orleans, LA.

A paper by doctoral student Allison Newcomb and her advisor Robert Hammell, entitled "Examining the Effects of the Value of Information on Intelligence Analyst Performance," received the Meritorious PhD Student Paper Award at the 5th Annual Conference on Information Systems Applied Research (CONISAR 2012), 1-4 November 2012, New Orleans, LA.

Chuck Dierbach’s first edition textbook, “Introduction to Computer Science Using Python: A Computational Problem-Solving Focus” is being published by John Wiley & Sons, to be available for the spring semester.

Yeong-tae Song presented the paper “Learner Profile Management in a Smart Learning Management Environment”, at the 4th International conference on “Innovations in Learning for the Future 2012:e-Learning”, Istanbul university in Istanbul, Turkey, Nov. 15, 2012.
