Dinner is a short narrative film created by a small production team in an advanced filmmaking course in the EMF department. The synopsis of the movie is as follows: Thomas Hutchison and Sheri Painter meet while shopping for groceries in a supermarket. Thomas falls for this young and good-looking girl at once, and immediately asks her out to dinner. Sheri walks into this new romance without reservations and displays physical attraction towards Thomas. Later, When Sheri realizes Thomas is not who he seems to be, she attempts to flee…This nine-minute movie was shot using a 16 mm film camera, SR-2. The film stock used was Kodak New Vision 2 500T, a new generation film that captures vivid images and enriches the color. The aesthetics of this film involve mixing with crosscutting, color-coding, and also filling with hand-held shooting techniques. This filmmaking experience was very valuable and rewarding because not only did it uncover the significance of having a well-organized production, but also it revealed the importance of a group effort. Dinner, written and directed by Chia-Yi Lin.
