The Undergraduate Research Committee has three programs for supporting
undergraduate research, as described below:
Research Grants:
Supply and expense grants of up to $500 per project are awarded
to Towson University undergraduate students engaged in scholarly
research activities under the mentorship of Towson University faculty
members. Research funds may be used for supplies, books, software,
equipment and travel as appropriate to the project. Projects may
be carried out over one or two semesters and involve close collaboration
of the student and faculty member.
Travel Grants
The travel grant program allows students to apply for up to $500
from the Towson Undergraduate Research Committee to attend a professional
meeting at which the student will be the primary presenter of an
oral seminar or a research poster. Requests larger than $500 will
be considered provided the application provides well-documented
need for the additional funds.
Small Project Grants
These Grants award up to $100 for smaller projects. Funds
may be used for supplies, books, software, equipment, fees, etc
as appropriate to the project.
Application
Fall application deadline for Research Stipends and Grants and Travel
Grants is September 21st. Small Project Awards have no set deadline,
but the committee will start reviewing applications on a rolling
basis starting September 21st.

There will be one deadline for Research Grants each semester and
two deadlines for Travel Grants. The deadline for Research Grants
and the first Travel Grant Deadline will be announced soon. We hope
to let applicants know the status of their requests within one week
of each deadline. Small Project Award proposals are accepted on
a rolling basis.
