Towson University has more than 10 years
experience delivering an accelerated
program to certified teachers and other
licensed professionals aspiring to become
educational leaders. Now, individuals
can take advantage of Towson University's
MSDE approved programs for Administrator
I certification through an accelerated
online format.
The Online Administrator I Certification program
is for certified teachers and other licensed professionals
who already possess a master’s degree, work
in schools, and aspire to become educational leaders
and administrators at local and state levels. The
program is approved by the Maryland State Department
of Education (MSDE) for Administrator I certification,
a requirement for supervisors, assistant principals
and principals.
Through the online format with consecutive,
not concurrent courses, participants
can reach the 18 credit post-master's
certification for Administrator I in
10 months, and complete the 36 credit
master degree in Human Resource Development/Educational
Leadership in 22 months. All courses
are 7 weeks long. A required 300 hour
supervised internship is integral and
included in the program.
The program employs faculty members who have years
of experience, as well as faculty with strong research
agendas in education, professional development, assessment,
and leadership. Many of our faculty members continue
to work in the field while sharing their leadership
experiences with students. Our faculty members are
superb advisers and mentors who can help each student
develop an individualized professional plan for such
positions as team leader, department chair, instructional
supervisor, or school-based administrator.
