Health Science (M.S.)

Why Earn a Master’s Degree in Health Science?

Towson’s Master of Science in health science prepares graduates to play an influential role in education, medical care, community health organizations and other public health settings. Healthcare professionals and students with a health science background can broaden their knowledge, learn new skills, and meet Maryland’s standards for graduate-trained health professionals. A new program track is also open for students without undergraduate degrees in health care.

A Flexible Format

Designed for the working professional, the program offers a wide variety of evening classes. Part-time students can complete course work at their own pace. Students wishing to pursue the program’s thesis option complete a research project in their area of specialty. Non-thesis students take additional course work.

Choose Your Specialty

Students tailor the program to fit their academic needs and professional goals, specializing in one of the following concentrations:

  • Administration graduates find work in government, community and school settings.
  • Community Health Education prepares graduates for community health education careers in the public and private sectors.
  • School Health Education prepares graduates for positions in health education, including teacher, program supervisor, health education media specialist and program evaluation specialist. Many find positions in continuing education and school personnel departments.
  • Dual concentration students take required coursework in any two of the above concentrations of their choosing, thus bridging areas of specialization.
