Human Resource Development (M.S.) - Online Educational Leadership Track

The Online Difference

Towson University has more than 10 years experience delivering an accelerated program to certified teachers and other licensed professionals aspiring to become educational leaders. Now, individuals can take advantage of Towson University's MSDE approved programs for Administrator I certification through an accelerated online format.

The Online Educational Leadership track within the Human Resource Development (HRD) Master of Science program is for certified teachers and other licensed professionals who work in schools and aspire to become educational leaders and administrators at local and state levels. The program is approved by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) for those seeking certification as Administrator I, meeting all required state and national standards. It is the only MSDE-approved interdisciplinary program for Administrator I certification.

Through the online format with consecutive, not concurrent courses, participants can reach the 18-credit post-master's certification for Administrator I in 12 months, and complete the 36-credit master degree in Human Resource Development/Educational Leadership in 22 months. All courses are 7 weeks long. A required 300-hour supervised internship is integral and included in the program.

Standard Towson University graduate tuition and fees apply according to residency, not work location. The Bursar's Office provides current tuition and fee information.

The program employs faculty members who have years of experience, as well as faculty with strong research agendas in education, professional development, assessment, and leadership. Many of our faculty members continue to work in the field while sharing their leadership experiences with students. Our faculty members are superb advisers and mentors who can help each student develop an individualized professional plan for such positions as team leader, department chair, instructional supervisor, or school-based administrator.
