The Master of Science (M.S.) degree in mathematics education from Towson University is designed to ensure that certified middle school teachers meet and surpass the standards set by the No Child Left Behind Act while gaining advanced knowledge in mathematics content and pedagogy. Graduates of the program frequently find leadership positions in mathematics education as master teachers, curriculum developers, mathematics supervisors and more.
A Degree Designed for You
The M.S. program is designed for the full-time educator taking courses part time. Classes are offered conveniently in late afternoon, evening and over the summer. The middle school track provides core course work in mathematical content, mathematics education, and pedagogy. Through elective courses, you can further specialize in an area of your interest.
A Group Learning Alternative
You may be eligible to complete your master's degree with your fellow teachers in a cohort program if you teach in a public school. The cohort program offers on-site courses at or near your school at a reduced tuition cost. Currently, Towson offers the middle school track cohort in Baltimore, Harford, Howard and Prince George's counties.
