All applications can be completed online through (CASPA) a Central Application Service for Physician Assistants. If selected
the PA office will contact you for an interview, and send you applications for both CCBC Essex and Towson University, as well as a request for application fees and official transcripts from your degree granting institution.

Do I need to fill out an application for both Towson University and CCBC Essex?
If selected for an interview, the PA office will send you applications for both schools as well as additional materials to be filled out.
Can I apply more than one time if not accepted the first time?
There is no limit to the number of times you can apply to the program. CASPA requires reapplicants to completely resubmit a new application.
What is the deadline for applying to the Physician Assistant Program?
CASPA admissions opens approximately May 1st, and the admissions deadline is September 1st for admission to the following year June 1st class.
What type of work qualifies as the required minimum
400 hours patient contact or health related experience?
Any of the following are accepted as patient contact or medically related experience: Clinical hours completed as part of a health care training program, medical or clinical research, volunteer hospital or clinical experience, or documented home health care experience.
What are the prerequisite math and science courses to enter the program?
Anatomy (A&PI) - 4 credits
Physiology (A&PII) - 4 credits
Biochemistry. - 3 credits (Note: This course is titled "Essentials of Organic and Biochemistry" at CCBC-Essex)
Microbiology (must include a lab)- 4 credits
College Level Statistics (any discipline - may be taken online) - 3 credits
Medical Terminology (may be taken online) - 2 or 3 credits
What if I have not completed all of the prerequisite math and science courses to enter the program? Is it still possible to apply to the program?
You must have at least four completed prerequisite courses at application deadline, and be enrolled in the 5th at the application deadline. Students who have completed all courses at the time of application will be given preference.
If my GPA is less than 3.0 can I still get accepted?
Yes, you can still be accepted into the PA Program. The minimum grade point average (GPA) for
conditional admission consideration is 2.75 for the last 60 credits of college courses; however, applicants with less than a 3.0 GPA are usually not seen as competitive.
Are the results of a GRE examination required for application from prospective students?
Students applying for the June start date are not required to have taken a GRE exam.

How much financial aid am I eligible to receive?
Towson-CCBC Essex PA students are generally eligible for approximately $18,500.00 annually in federally guaranteed loans.
Course work must be pursued on a full time basis only.
Is there a way of receiving the official information booklet if I am unable to download the file off this website?
Contact Ms. Shirley Shaw at the CCBC Essex Physician Assistant Office at 443-840-2854; she will mail the booklet directly to your residence. We prefer that you download the booklet since it may take several weeks by mail to receive the booklet.
On what campus are classes held on?
All courses are attended on the CCBC Essex campus, which is located at 7201 Rossville Blvd. Baltimore, MD 21237.
Is there more than one class starting each year?
There is only one class admitted for each June start date.
